Precision Engineered Injection Molded Plastic Components

At Marman Industries we are capable of solving the engineering challenges associated with manufacturing complex injection molded plastic components and assemblies. The project highlighted here is a replaceable laser skin resurfacing tip that is manufactured for a leader in the medical aesthetics industry. The tip measures 4" x 4" and is constructed on polycarbonate and glass filled nylon. Once the design was finalized, molds were fabricated in-house. During the design phase engineers were able to create a molded plastic design to replace the machined metal rollers that were previously being used. We can often make cost effective substitutions like this without negatively impacting the quality of the product.

The polycarbonate was heat staked during assembly. Careful consideration had to be taken not to impart excess stress on the stiff polycarbonate material. Final assemblies were pad printed and packaged in preparation for shipping to sterilization. Completing a project of this magnitude requires a great deal of interdepartmental collaboration. Engineers, designers, machinists, and production coordinators all played critical roles in the success of the project.

We were able to solve several problems the customer had previously encountered with this product. Due to fluctuating demand, the customer had difficulty in accurately forecasting order quantities. To remedy this, a Kanban system was set-up, ensuring stock is always available and signaling the need to manufacture additional assemblies with adequate lead time. For additional details regarding this custom injection molding and plastic assembly project, see the table below or contact us directly.
